Corporal Punishment

The recent news of a student of prestigious school, La Martiniere ,Kolkata having committed suicide is shocking ! The boy belonged to an affluent background , and was just a budding teenager. We belong to an era where teaching is co-related to psychological handling ; Gone are the days when caning was seen to be the only solution to discipline children, and parents too, would take the side of the school authorities in equally condemning the child ! with the whole purpose of disciplining.

Today its more important to train the young minds with patience and analysing their behavioural traits, their aptitudes and inclinations with a positive and motivating perspective. It has been proved time and again that morale boosting , positive and non -restrictive approach in teaching leads to amazing results where the students follow their respective curriculums in a much organised and methodical manner.

It has been seen that excessive strict measures have resulted in creating personalities which are shy and at times distorted too! They grow up wih feelings of revenge and animosity, and are often misfit in the society. I ,personally feel that these children, who are the future generation of our nation should be dealt with aiming towards positivity and loads of love, attention which they constantly seek and certainly not any kind of oil soaked caning effects which leaves a scar on their souls and minds for ever.

Government should enforce strict measures against corporal punishment of any sort. It's the 21st century ,Sir and we are supposed to forge ahead with brilliant young minds and create an environment where indepedent thinking is appreciated , talent recognised and applauded too!
